Getting there
One hour from Catania airport. Civil ceremonies are celebrated in the Etna villages and at several licensed estates. Temperature drops sharply after sunset at altitude, so plan wraps for guests and a warm indoor space.
Getting married in Mount Etna
Etna is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the defining presence of eastern Sicily. On the northern slope, around Randazzo and Linguaglossa, old wine estates grow Nerello Mascalese in black volcanic soil at 700 metres, with the summit crater above and the sea far below.
A wedding on Etna is dramatic without being difficult: cool evenings, wide open landscapes and, if you want it, a portrait session on a lava field or in a lava cave at sunset while the summit smokes behind you.

Yes, on the authorised lower slopes and always following the park authority's current access rules, which I check before every date.
Can we see the crater in our photographs?
From the northern estates the summit is visible on most clear days, and at sunset it takes on a pink glow that is unmistakable.
