Destination wedding in Panarea
Whitewashed houses, bougainvillea and the most glamorous island of the south.
Region
Aeolian Islands
Best months
June and September. July and August are extremely busy and prices peak.
Getting there
Hydrofoil from Milazzo via Lipari. No cars on the island; luggage and equipment move by cart. Numbers are limited by accommodation, and suppliers usually come from Lipari, so schedules must be conservative.
Getting married in Panarea
Panarea is the smallest inhabited Aeolian island and the most fashionable. There are no cars, only electric carts and stone paths between white houses draped in bougainvillea, and from the eastern side you look straight at Stromboli erupting on the horizon.
Weddings here are small, chic and late: an aperitivo on a terrace above the sea, a ceremony at golden hour, dinner outdoors and a session under the stars with Stromboli glowing in the distance.
Venues and locations I use in Panarea
- Terraced boutique hotels above San Pietro harbour
- Private villas with infinity pools facing Stromboli
- Cala Junco and the prehistoric village of Punta Milazzese
- Boat receptions and charters between the islands
- Chiesa di San Pietro for small religious ceremonies

Frequently asked questions
Is Panarea suitable for an elopement?
It is one of the best places in Italy for one: two people, a boat, and Stromboli erupting behind you at dusk.
How early should we book?
For June or September, twelve to eighteen months. The island has very few venues and they fill quickly.
